How is it used?
We use electricity in many ways everyday. There are four energy sectors in society: residential, commercial, industrial and transportation. The largest use of electricity in the U.S. residential sector is for air conditioning (cooling), followed by lighting; powering computers, TVs, and related electronic equipment; water heating; refrigeration; space heating; and clothes washing and drying
Lighting is the largest use of electricity in the U.S. commercial sector, which includes retail, office, education, institutional, public, and government buildings, in addition to street lighting. The other major commercial uses of electricity are for cooling, ventilation, refrigeration, powering office equipment, and space and water heating.
