About Energy Safe Kids

Energy Safe Kids is a program of the National Energy Foundation. Funded in partnership with Great Basin Gas Transmission Company.
The mission of Energy Safe Kids is to cultivate energy literacy by promoting the safe and wise use of electricity and natural gas. An Energy Safe Kid will Think! about energy issues, Talk! to adults about those issues and Take Action! when needed.
In the spirit of our mission of promoting energy related education and awareness in our communities, the National Energy Foundation (NEF), in partnership with Great Basin Gas Transmission Company, is pleased to provide the Energy Safe Kids program and this collection of outstanding instructional materials. This program and its materials continually improve to further the many exciting advances in energy safety education and technology.

Great Basin Gas Transmission Company owns and operates an interstate pipeline system that extends from the point of interconnection with the facilities of Northwest Pipeline Corporation at the Idaho-Nevada border to the California-Nevada state line near the north and south ends of Lake Tahoe, where Great Basin delivers gas into the facilities of three local distribution companies. Great Basin also operates a peak shaving storage facility near Lovelock, Nevada.

The booklet that the children received was engaging because it told them how to be safe in the home, what natural gas is, and what to do in emergencies. The children liked the lessons and the stickers that taught them about the smell of natural gas.
