About Delaware Electric Cooperative

Delaware Electric Cooperative (DEC) is a member-owned, not-for-profit utility serving 116,000 homes, farms and businesses in Kent and Sussex counties. DEC was formed in 1936 by a group of farmers in southern Delaware and is currently the second largest electric utility in Delaware and the only not-for-profit electric cooperative. About 7% of DEC’s power comes from renewable resources, including a 40-acre solar farm in Sussex County, owned by the Co-op.
